About Ashley: The road less travelled

I’m an artist and a maker winding my own unique path through life.

Unrestricted Creativity

Creativity has always driven my life, and been at the core of everything I do.

After finishing design school as a single mom, in a community that lacked a lot of opportunity in the fashion industry, I struggled to find a way to start a career doing what I loved. For years I dreamed of founding a company that kept creativity and the art of fashion at its core, but provided a flexible and stable working environment for the people, especially women, who didn’t have the ability to move to a big city, or needed a work environment that allowed them to still manage their caregiver roles. The heart of what I do is always with the intention to provide a chance for disadvantaged women to succeed and follow their dreams.

Rohic Brand was inspired by my oldest son, who spent much of his childhood trying to find shirts that featured cats, but that had a more inclusive design. Essentially, he wanted a shirt with a cat that wasn’t pink and sparkly. At Rohic we aim to create designs that break down societal ideas of what themes and colors boy’s apparel should be. We strive to move beyond green dinosaurs and blue excavators, creating something more unique and individual. Because boys like cats too.

I founded Plume & Pine in the midst of a lay-off after many years of contemplating turning my crafts into a business. I am always drawn to the ethereal beauty of and meaning behind the dreamcatcher, and thoroughly enjoy putting each one together.

A creator with more ideas than hours

I’m Ashley, a woman who loves to wander life in the most winding path possible. I am an artist, crafter, designer, nature lover, and lifelong learner. I’m the mom to two wonderful boys, two crazy cats, and one Pyrenees mountain dog. I’m a dreamer and a creative, and after spending ten years of my life living in Europe, an avid traveler.

I have two college degrees, including one in Fashion. I have worked in many sides of the fashion industry from retail and merchandising to product development and design. I am passionate about small business and spend a lot of my free time volunteering in a local women’s business community. In my spare time you might find me exploring local nature trails, getting lost in the Adirondack Mountains, visiting California, reading a book, or playing with my tarot cards.

It is my dream to help make change in the world by being able to support women in their work and passions.
